Captains Of Industry

is a loosely connected organisation of like-minded writers, musicians, artists, poets, publishers, record labels, producers, fanzines and other deviants of the artistic / altruistic process. Through a simple shared philosophy the collective aims to share resources and provide cross-cultural reference points in order to aid creative output and spread a message of opposition to those who misuse their positions of power - be they artistic, economic or political.

“…It’s a shame, as everyone knows the Devil’s got the best tunes..”  Bono, U2.

Indeed he does……..

Or maybe its Future eX Wife that have all the best tunes.

Featuring ex-Dogdrill frontman/guitarist Pete Spiby it may be hard not to think on first impressions that this band will be pulling influence from a very dark place, as everyone knows, the Dogdrill sound came directly from the Devils fingertips, why would this be any different. Well, it just is and all the better for it.

Future eX Wife no longer count on the dark lord for guidance, as he’s too busy burning the bridges of current scenesters, instead they have stolen the devils own back catalogue and spat in his eye on the way out. They are, in their own words ….  ‘Big Dumb Ass Rockpunk’…..who write songs dedicated to  their favourite lap dancers. The music is pretty sexy, so why not write about sexy ladies?”
Why not?

Legendary photographer and founder of carelesstalkcostslives magazine Steve Gullick on first hearing them exclaimed “…… they rock like trucker speed freak crack whores with scabies and bursting piles, I want them in the magazine....”

This led to the band getting their first bit of real press and a chance for
someone to tell it like it is. Ben Myers wrote about them for the issue  “… with Future eX Wife, if you know. You know. You feel it.…. the sound of sexy Sabbath, battered by the dynamics of great early Nineties bands like Unsane , the Jesus Lizard and Helmet….Riffs tumble like anvils down an up elevator. It drips with cool.”

When asked to describe a live show their own description is this …..
“ like being locked inside a strongbox with a heart-eating virus.”

So, Rock history in the making, as ‘The Wife’ have been getting spot plays from the album on Radio One over the last 4 weeks, on both John Peels show and the rockshow, where Editor –in-Chief at Kerrang! Phil Alexander, described them as ‘an awesome new band’
They are also endorsed by the rock shows producer Emma Lyne and presenter Mary-Anne Hobbs, who added  “… sounds of the great Zeppelin come to mind, you’ll be hearing more from them in the near future…. Future eX Wife are one of our new favourite bands of the season. Everyone here at Radio One are behind them
110%”

‘Miss September’ was seven songs, of bile, recorded in seven hours. Sheffield, England. One hot summer day in July 2003. Raw. Bloody. No frills. As it’s meant to be.

Fresh from a UK tour and a blistering South By South West appearance, steely-eyed blues rockers Future eX Wife then released the world’s first micro-album, ‘While Your Husband’s Away…’

A perfectly-executed exercise in muscular rock n’ roll ‘While Your Husband’s Away…’ has spawned the revolutionary new format: the ‘micro-album’. Within are five songs carved from granite, dusted in glitter and doused in petrol. Think Sabbath – Soundgarden – Shellac.

Finished copies also include an enhanced for ‘Ebony’ , featuring the ladies of The Spearmint Rhino, Sheffield filling the roles of the (far uglier) band members
